AI could transform how people build their careers.
But right now, it’s chaos.
If you’re a professional, you’re feeling the anxiety — overwhelmed by AI tools, noise, and generic advice that ignores your experience.
If you lead a career team, you’re seeing a different problem. Students are using AI as a shortcut that strips away their individuality, while your coaches are expected to scale support — and handle the constant “but ChatGPT told me…”.
I understand both sides — because I’ve worked on both.
I’ve spent 15+ years in higher education, including 7+ inside the career services team of IE Business School.
And I've been in the AI trenches.
ChatGPT launched in November 2022. Already in 2023, I was part of the team that built the first ChatGPT guide for career services. At that time, we thought the answer was better prompts.
Little did I know back then that prompts are only the tip of the iceberg.

My Journey:
From Prompting to Orchestration
For almost a year AI has been my full-time, day-to-day work.
Not writing about it - building with it. Running an entire practice from scratch using AI across every layer of the business.
I moved from using a single chatbot to orchestrating a system of 4 LLM tools, agents and automations. This website exists because my team of Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT guided me all the way through.
(For anyone claiming website builders do it "in one click" — ask me how that went.)
That’s when the shift became obvious.
Focusing on the tool isn’t enough.
It’s like following a recipe without knowing how to cook — the moment the tool updates, you’re lost.
The real work happens upstream:
✓ Defining the right problem
✓ Applying judgment to what AI gives back
✓ Knowing what to trust, what to adapt, and what to override
That’s the skill most people are missing.
Today, The Discerning Mind is not just an observation — it’s a working methodology.

The Face Behind the Name
When I’m not "orchestrating" AI systems or teaching, you’ll likely find me:
✓ On the Trail: I’ve completed the Camino de Santiago twice. My dog Bonnie is probably the only one Shit Tzu in the world that did 270km of the Camino.
✓ On the Dance Floor: Kizomba and Tango are my reset button.
✓ On the Water: Part of a business school alumni sailing community — life on a boat has felt like home for more than five years.
✓ On the Mat: Yoga keeps me grounded and focused to handle the AI chaos.
