AI in Careers Lab

Practical workshops on AI literacy and job search workflows — for students, alumni, and the career services teams supporting them. Built by a career services practitioner.

When students use AI without guidance,

it lands on your desk:

50 Cover Letters for McKinsey that all look the same.

A student with background in audit looking for a change comes in with "THE plan" . AI recommended product management. You spend the next 30 minutes inviting him to explore other options.

Or the classic: "But ChatGPT told me..." — followed by a salary benchmark from the wrong country, a company description that no longer exists, or interview advice calibrated for a market your students will never enter.

As former Career Education Lead at IE Business School, I have advised the same students, managed the same pressures, and run the same conversations you are running now.

Students are using AI. No one taught them how. The results land on your desk — on top of everything else already there.

The workload grows. The team does not. The expectation of personalised student support remains unchanged.

Both challenges have the same answer: structured AI skills training. For students who need to learn how to use AI with rigour. And for the teams supporting them who need AI to reduce the load — not add to it.

Three ways I can help your community:

  • Bring AI in Careers Lab to your students — a modular workshop series built for the EMEA job market, delivered as a standalone session or a progressive series, with full recording rights for your institution.

  • Train your career services team — a dedicated session that moves your advisors from tool adoption to intentional AI integration, building both the strategic framework and the hands-on prompting skills to lead it.

  • Done-For-You AI in Careers Setup — for teams that want to integrate AI into their coaching practice without figuring it out themselves. I assess your current workflow, design and configure the right AI setup for your context, and hand it over ready to use — with support to embed it from day one.

What AI in Careers Lab delivers —

and how it is structured

AI in Careers Lab is a modular workshop series developed for the career services teams at EMEA business schools and universities.
It moves students from unstructured, copy-paste AI use to intentional practice — using AI as a thinking partner rather than a shortcut. Each of the three workshops can be delivered as a standalone session or as a progressive series.

Foundational AI skills for job search

For students not yet using AI in their job search — or using it inconsistently. This workshop introduces where AI adds value and where its limits are, across every stage of the job search journey.

After this workshop, students can:

  • Think with AI: Leverage AI as a genuine thinking partner in job search and career decisions — not just a text generator.

  • Prompt with precision: Structure prompts that produce relevant, high-quality outputs across all job search stages: exploration, applications, interview preparation, and offer evaluation.

  • Hold a real conversation: Build an interactive dialogue with AI — knowing how to push back, ask follow-up questions, and move beyond surface-level responses.

  • Navigate with context: Recognise AI limitations and adapt their approach for the European job market — avoiding benchmarks, descriptions, and advice calibrated for markets they'll never enter.

Personalised AI assistants for job search

For students ready to go beyond copy-paste prompting. This workshop moves from general AI use to building a personal career tool — configured around each student's goals, voice, and job search stage.

After this workshop, students can:

  • Build their own AI assistant: Create and configure a personalised AI assistant aligned with their specific career goals and target market.

  • Create role-specific tools: Develop a CV assistant, interview coach, and offer evaluation support — all trained on their own materials.

  • Choose inputs wisely: Select the right training materials without exposing sensitive personal data.

  • Put it to work immediately: Integrate their assistant into an ongoing job search workflow from day one.

Job search workflow automation — hands-on bootcamp.

For students ready to move from using AI to building with it. This session bridges the gap between basic prompting and creating semi-automated career systems that do the heavy lifting while maintaining human quality.

After this workshop, students can:

  • Audit their search: Map their end-to-end workflow to identify high-impact automation opportunities.

  • Build Custom Solutions: Create non-technical automations for lead tracking and market research.

  • Scale without Dilution: Use AI to handle volume while applying human judgment where it matters most.

  • Demonstrate applied AI capability: Leave the session with a working automation and the ability to explain the decisions behind it — a tangible output that distinguishes candidates in a competitive market.

Career Services teams edition

This session helps career services teams move from tool adoption to intentional AI integration — building both the strategic framework and the practical skills to lead it. Frequently asked questions

What sessions do you offer?

There are four sessions in the AI in Careers Lab:

  • AI in Careers: Launch — For students not yet using AI in their job search — or using it inconsistently. This workshop introduces where AI adds value and where its limits are, across every stage of the job search journey.

  • AI in Careers: Accelerate — For students ready to go beyond copy-paste prompting. This workshop moves from general AI use to building a personal career tool — configured around each student's goals, voice, and job search stage.

  • AI in Careers: Automate — For students ready to move from using AI to building with it. This session bridges the gap between basic prompting and creating semi-automated career systems that do the heavy lifting while maintaining human quality.

  • Career Services Edition —This session is designed for career services professionals. It addresses the practical challenge of integrating AI into advising workflows with rigour: building a shared framework for where AI adds value, how to evaluate its outputs, and how to talk about it credibly with students navigating the EMEA job market.

What is the duration of the workshops?

Launch and Accelerate run 90 minutes. Automate is a half-day session (3 hours content plus a 15–30 minute break). Career Services Edition is 90 minutes.

Can we book a single session or do we need the full package?

Both. Standalone sessions work well if you want to introduce AI to a specific cohort or test the format before committing. The full package makes more sense if you want to take students through a structured progression. We can discuss what fits your programme calendar.

Is it available online and in person?

Yes to both. Online sessions run on Zoom, Teams, or whichever platform your school uses. In-person delivery is available for schools that prefer it — and is recommended for the Automate bootcamp, being in the same room makes the hands-on work easier.

What tech stack do students need to participate?

A laptop. For Launch, a free account at any LLM is enough — no paid subscriptions needed. For Accelerate and Automate, at least one premium account is required: ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, or Gemini Advanced. If your school already has a licence with a specific tool, that works too.

Do I need to be techie to participate?

No technical background required. These workshops are designed for non-technical audiences.

Which AI platforms do you cover?

It depends on your school. If you have a licence with a specific tool — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini — workshop can be focused around that platform. If you don't have a preference, the workshops are platform-agnostic and cover the main options so students can make informed choices based on their needs.

Do you customise the content per school?

The core content is consistent across schools — that's what makes it reliable and repeatable. Where customisation applies is in the tools covered, and for the Career Services Edition, the specific challenges your team is facing. Before that session I'll ask about your main pain points and adjust the content accordingly.

How does pricing work?

Sessions are priced per session, not per student. Whether you're booking standalone or a full package, we agree the scope upfront — no seat counts to manage afterwards.

Can we record the sessions?

Yes. Recordings are available to share with enrolled students and relevant staff from that programme or cohort.

What is the class capacity?

For Launch, Accelerate, and the Career Services Edition, sessions adapt to your cohort size — whether that's a seminar group or a full programme intake.

For Automate, given the technical depth of the work, I recommend a maximum of 50 participants to guarantee personal attention. Happy to discuss if your numbers are different.
